HomePNA to demonstrate leading IPTV delivery technology over existing coax cables
San Ramon, CA - September 16, 2008
The HomePNA Alliance announced today that it will join leading equipment and service providers at the 2008 FTTH Conference and Expo being held at the Gaylord Opryland Resort & Convention Center in Nashville, Tennessee on September 21-25. HomePNA will participate in the Home Networking Zone, a conference highlight providing interactive exhibits, product displays and service demonstrations enabled by a fiber to the home (FTTH) connection.
"With four of the five largest North American Telcos that offer IPTV using HomePNA to provide the service, FTTH provides a great opportunity for service providers to see a live demonstration of HomePNA being used to distribute actual high-speed commercial IPTV service, delivered to the home over FTTH, to set-top boxes over existing coaxial cables," noted Richard Nesin, HomePNA president. "We are excited to be part of this year's Home Networking Zone."
Rich Nesin will also be speaking on the features, benefits and practical aspects of the widely deployed home networking standard on Monday, Sept. 22 between 3:30 and 4:00 PM at the Fiber Powered Pavilion located in booth 521.
The 2008 FTTH Conference and Expo is the place to learn about FTTH deployment, its economic impact, and the technology needed to make it happen. The Home Networking Zone, sponsored by the FTTH Council and AT&T, is located in Booth 1021 in the Ryman Exhibition Hall.
HomePNA is one of the fastest-growing home networking technologies with over a dozen service providers installing more than 15,000 new HomePNA-based networks worldwide each week. It is the only standard that operates over both coax cables and phone wires. HomePNA's guaranteed quality of service (QoS) delivers a high-quality video experience for viewers while enabling service providers to reduce installation costs, utilize remote management and diagnostics to reduce operational expenses, and even reduce end-user costs through unified billing.
HomePNA is an incorporated, non-profit association of industry-leading companies working together to create, promote and certify multimedia home networking technology that operates over existing wires. HomePNA technology operates over coax cables and phone wires to deliver Internet Protocol (IP) services like IPTV, Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) and data, often bundled by service providers as triple-play services. Founded in June 1998, HomePNA members represent cutting-edge international companies that span the networking, telecommunications, hardware, software and consumer electronics industries.
